Being a small business owner myself, I love to connect with others and hear their story. Each person always has their own unique path and finding out the whys and hows of a business has always been so fascinating to me! Over the next few months, I'll be sharing local small business that I've crossed paths with and love. Hope you enjoy this fun series!! And if you have a small business you'd like to be featured, let me know!
Today's small business spotlight is Elizabeth Elliot from House Off Ninety Six. I came across Elizabeth's work while photographing a lifestyle newborn session and was blown away! Elizabeth creates the most beautiful, custom artwork and her attention to detail is incredible! Let's meet Elizabeth!
1. Tell us a little about your business. What do you do?
I make custom wood signs. I initially didn't set out to make this "hobby" into a small business. At first I started making signs as gifts and then for just friends and family and eventually I started making signs for people I didn't know at all.
2. What makes your business unique/special?
I can customize any quote or saying you would want with various color and font combinations. I work with my clients and design several different versions for them to choose from.
3. How do you stay inspired? Who inspires you?
My customers inspire me and push me everyday to create new and exciting signs. I'm also inspired by other makers on instagram and I also get a lot of inspiration from pinterest.
5. What do you love most about running a small business?
I love meeting and talking with new people. I also love setting my own schedule and creating beautiful pieces of art that are cherished and loved.
6. When did you know you wanted to go into this business?
I didn't really know this is was path I was heading in but once my customer base got to a certain amount, I knew I had to make this sign business legit :)
7. What else do you love to do?
I love to travel and hang out with my husband and my two labs.
8. Describe your perfect day.
If I could describe my most perfect day, it would probably consist of me sitting on the beach with my friends and family.
