There is magic in all of us. You just have to find it.
The curl of hair. The holding of hands. The hugs and snuggles. The movement of life and the blur from how fast it all goes. These are the things that often get easily passed by and forgotten as time grows and changes. These are the things that need to be recorded, remembered, cherished and loved forever.
Family sessions typically start in your home and then conclude out playing in your yard or at a nearby outdoor location. These sessions are perfect for your family - just as you are. Whether you just moved into a new home, have a family of ten and want to show all the day-to-day craziness or want to document a special activity at home (like cooking or art), these sessions are perfect for you. They are honest, intimate and timeless. They capture YOU as you are, and are a wonderful portrayal of your beautiful life. In-home sessions give the perfect snapshot of your here and now. I generally tend to shy away from holding sessions at local parks as I feel these locations make it difficult to truly get a real and raw connection between a family, but if you would prefer a specific outdoor location instead of your home, just let me know.
Those first few moments at home as a new family....there is truly nothing quite like it....
So many memories in those first few days at home with your new baby. It's a mix of just about every emotion imaginable, but so full of love at the same time. I promise you will never look back on these moments captured and regret this point of time that you preserved forever. The tiny little hands, the teeny little toes, that button nose and the way the skin starts to flake off....the pin prick on the heel from the hospital, the baby hair. All these things grow, change and heal and soon your teeny tiny baby will be toddling around the house calling out for "mama and dada". I hope you savor these moments and remember just how important they truly are. Being invited into the homes of my clients and allowed to record these priceless moments will always fill my heart. The bond of this brand new family is unbreakable and being able to witness the love and joy amongst this new family is simply amazing.
Newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home. These sessions are perfect for capturing your family together as you welcome home your sweet new bundle of joy. Newborn sessions are baby led and we do everything on your baby's schedule. If your baby needs to be fed, we take a break. If your baby needs to be swaddled and cuddled for a few, we cuddle. Sessions are largely unposed and vary from session to session depending on your baby. I will always attempt to capture a few sleepy shots, but it all just depends on your baby and how easily we are able to get him/her in a deep sleep.
The blog is a love to story my clients and my family. I learn so much about myself with every session I shoot and I am just so thankful for clients who open themselves up to me and let me see their true family....flaws and all. Life may not be all perfect, but you sure can find something perfect about each day. Visit the blog to see more love stories.
For families and newborns, I offer both in-home and outdoor lifestyle sessions, which are real, honest and raw. Lifestyle newborn sessions always occur in the comfort of your own home and family sessions can either start in home and then conclude out playing in your yard or can take place at a nearby outdoor location. Home is where the love lives. Home is where kids feel safe and playful and truly themselves. Home is where you bring your brand new baby for the first time. There is nothing more honest and real than being at home and photographing a family in their own element makes everyone take a deep breath and relax. There's no more "stiff posed" photos. No more packing up everything you own to take your new baby to a studio. Read more about my sessions here.
When I say “I shoot with film”, I’m not referring to using a video camera to capture video. I’m talking about taking a roll of photographic film that you load into a good old film camera (just like your grandparents used) and then have it developed by a lab. Film is a timeless medium. It has this incredible way of capturing light, color, and detail. The richness and depth that comes from a film image is balanced by the dreamy skin tones and overall softness. When you look at a film image, it almost looks like an artist painted it….capturing so much more of the moment, because it was created with intentionality and purpose. When you shoot with film, magic happens. It's not fast, it's not always perfect, but it's pure and real and honest. We live in a digital age of instant gratification where it takes little effort for instant results. Film takes us back to our roots and is a breath of fresh air. Film brings back the magic of photography.
Thinking about shooting film, but not sure where to start? Then the FILM LOVE workshop is what you need! This workshop includes everything you need to know to get started with film and more! Lesson topics include: metering for film, how and why to rate film, scanning film and lab communication, pushing film, double exposures, light leaks, how to shoot clients on film and so much more. I've spent countless hours reading, watching and learning everything I can related to film and I've designed this workshop so you don't have to do that same!! Everything you need is wrapped up tightly and ready for you to dig in and start shooting!

Being a creative can be hard. There are ebbs and flows of that creative juice. There are days where the ideas and inspiration and feelings of excitement are overflowing. And there are days where the well is dry and you feel almost numb to this art. It happens - and I’m sure if you are a creative you know the feeling all too well. Years ago I panicked and worried this feeling would never leave. Now I try to embrace it and push myself out of my comfort zone (whatever it may at that particular time). I’m sure a lot of photographers love the finished “image”, but for me, it’s much much more than that. It’s a feeling. A connection. An observation of a moment. The process of actually shooting is way more meaningful and poetic to me and not shooting is more painful than creating a bad image.
In 2019, I will be taking on a personal project to dig deep inside myself and let my soul scream out loud. I’m not making rules or stipulations for my project, but rather am just guiding myself towards work that fuels my passion with connections + people + film. Film isn’t perfect. It can be definitely be challenging. But film let’s me embrace my inner artist without having to worry about the final results. My goal is to always create work that hits me to my core. That makes me yearn for me. Work that means something.
As of right now, I am looking for other creatives or individuals/families to collaborate with in the new year. My goal here is not a call for a family session (although if your family fits the mold, that works for me), but to connect with others who share similar passions. I’m looking for mamas and her babies, couples in love, individual artists with a crazy passion, families who live off the beaten path…. I’m looking for others who are able to show up, let their guard down and be present. Others who are more concerned with the process rather than the end result.
If this sounds like you, I would LOVE to chat with you! Send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out a Contact Me form and I will be in touch!
Hi, I’m Stephanie and from my very first camera, I've always had a passion for photography. As a little girl, I daydreamed of having my own big magical darkroom where I could spend hours developing photos and holding my breath just waiting for that breathtaking image to appear. Like many others, my obsession with photography began soon after my children were born. I wanted to bottle up every single detail of their life. I wanted to take a step back and observe my own life and these ordinary moments through my lens.
I always strive to capture moments that make you FEEL something. I have a strong passion for bringing out the heart and soul in imagery. I want you to show you your life and blessings through the eyes of a camera. I want to show you the good, bad, beautiful, mundane and extraordinary moments from your life. I want you to see how amazing your life is and to help you record those everyday, fleeting moments. I truly believe each person has magic hidden inside of them. Whether you are capturing your family together, welcoming a new, sweet bundle to the family or want to record those precious mother-child moments, I would be honored to help you preserve your memories.
Your moments matter.
My goal with every photography session is to not only capture what makes you uniquely you, but to watch and observe the relationship between your family. I believe that family and newborn photography should be focused on your beautiful family. I want the REAL you. Your REAL family moments. Those REAL smiles. The quiet moments that are often not on this side of the camera. My sessions are mix of posed and unposed moments that are guaranteed to bring out the heart + soul of your family. Let's make some magic together.

My muses. My inspiration. The ones who make my heart skip a beat every single day.
I am a total "hands on" person. I need to SEE something in action...feel how it works....watch what I need to do....in order to full understand something. I bet you might be that way too. Reading all you can and watching YouTube videos can definitely set you off in the right direction, but actually seeing the process and working it through yourself is gonna be that game changer to understanding!
